The last BBQ before winter sets in

WINTER IS HERE – as of Saturday, daylight savings hit us again. No more sitting outside in the sun until 9pm – it’s warm fires and red wine from here on in.

So to say goodbye to summer, we did what any typical kiwi would do – lit up the BBQ. And on the menu? None other than a messy burger, using the new Good From Scratch Angus Beef and Beetroot Patties from Greenmeadows Beef.

My mates from Greenmeadows Beef have partnered with one of my favourite kiwi chefs, Michael Van de Elzen (think that neat guy from The Food Truck/Kiwi Living) to produce these healthy burger patties, which will be in stores in a few months. But guess what! If you’re heading along to The Food Show in Christchurch on the 7th – 9th of April, you’ll be able to give them a try and even purchase a couple of packets if you fall in love with them as much as I did.

Oh and guess what? They’re gluten, dairy, soy, MSG and preservative free and packed full of veges like beetroot and carrot!

We threw some buns on the BBQ (gluten free for me) along with the patties, threw together a quick slaw, sliced some cheese – and ta da! Dinner was served. The patties are full of flavour  – I can’t wait to open the other packet I have.
