Every year since moving to Christchurch, I’ve blocked out one weekend in April in the calendar. Why? BECAUSE THE FOOD SHOW COMES TO CHRISTCHURCH! Growing up in a small town meant I missed out on events like this, so I am really making the most of the fact I can now go.
I always look at the cooking theatre schedule first, so I can make sure I go on the day where the chefs I want to see are on stage. From there, I wing the rest. Myself, my eco bag and my wallet head off on a culinary adventure.
I think my longest day at The Food Show was from 10am till 3pm. This year, I am tempted to go two days in a row. I bet someone will hide my car keys…
Last year I was lucky enough to sit right in the front row and watch Ray McVinnie. I ended up asking him a question (something along the lines of what is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten, I believe he answered with sheep’s intestines stuffed with a sauce of sorts) and he gave me a bottle of Huffman’s Sauce. And some wine glasses as well! Just so you know, Huffman’s not to hot sauce is now a staple in our house – it’s THE BEST SAUCE EVER.
Chelsea Winter always does a great job with engaging with her fans, and it was lovely to see her in action! Check out the little girl in the front row. It was actually the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She had a wee note book, questions written out and she attended all of the demos and put her hand up to ask questions whenever the opportunity arose.
Look at me! Pretty pleased with myself huh? Not going to lie this bag weighed so much I actually had to carry it like a baby.
I’m lucky enough to have been given a Food Show prize pack to give away (worth $140) including a double pass to attend the show in Christchurch.
