I make hot sauce to make people like me 

The title speaks for itself. The hotter the sauce, the more they like me.

We decided to go pretty basic on the Christmas presents this year. Super close family members got gifts, but for the most part, if you were with us at Christmas, you got a wee jar of hot sauce.

The only complaint about my homemade sauce was that the jar was too small and the next time I make it, it better be by the bucket load.

Gluten free homemade hot sauce recipe made from Tio Pablo chipotles The Food Nest NZ

Here’s what you’ll need:
24 medium sized, ripe tomatoes
A can of chipotles (I use these)
4 dried red chillis (if you can’t find dried, two fresh ones will work fine)
2 white onions
1 red capsicum
1/3 cup of red wine vinegar
Salt and pepper
Olive oil

This recipe is as easy as it gets and I wont give you fancy instructions because it simply is the following:

Chop everything up and place in a large roasting dish. Cover it in olive oil, salt and pepper and red wine vinegar. Roast it on 160 deg for about 2 hours or until everything is super super soft/roasted.

Leave it for about 24 hours in the fridge, covered. Blend. Reheat in a large pot and put in sterilized jars, decorating them however you please and ta da!

Hopefully your friends and family love you as much as mine did.


FYI – This should make you approx 12 small jars of sauce.
