This is undeniably my favourite food event of the year, other than my birthday where I get to pick where we eat/whatever we eat – with no arguments. It is where some of New Zealand’s finest chefs and food retailers, gather together and give consumers a great day out (or in my case sometimes two)
Last year, we arrived at about 10AM and left at about 4PM – this was only because halfway through I bumped into my partners aunt and uncle and promised them I’d make Kasey and Karena’s Rare Beef Salad, which I had just seen them whip up in the Whirpool Cooking Theatre.
Another highlight was Ray McVinnie. He wow’ d me with his ability to capture a crowd, tell it like it is and make your mouth water with the most amazing Mushroom Tart you ever did see. You guessed it, I made that too.
What else? Well last year my best purchase of the day was a year’s subscription to Dish Magazine, which came with a huge goodie bag, and a bottle of wine! Conveniently the subscription has ended. Can you guess what I’ll be buying this year?
If you’re a big foodie, I recommend arriving early and prepare yourself to stay for more than a couple of hours. If there is a demonstration you want to see, arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to secure a decent seat.
Tickets range from $20 online to $23 at the gate, and give you access to the show for a whole day.
YOU’VE GOT TO BE IN, TO WIN!I’ll be heading along to The Food Show this year, and you’ll find me there all day Saturday. How would you like to attend as well? Actually, how would you like to attend AND enjoy this amazing hamper?Simply head to www.facebook.com/thefoodnestnz to enter.
