Skincare isn’t something I’d say I’m an expert on. I don’t think I really started getting into it until about 24/25 – and even then its taken me this long to be consistent with it. I’ve bounced from brand to brand, I’ve found a few things I like and I keep repurchasing, but as a whole, I don’t have one brand I *love* – I just have bits and pieces from a range of brands, that I like.
Apart of me thinks that stems from the fact my skin is so sensitive. And I know, a lot of people say their skin is sensitive, but trust me, mine is unbelievable. I once used a baby wipe on my face and my skin reacted so bad I couldn’t even open my eyes. It takes days to recover too – I can’t wear makeup, I just wash my face with water and ride out the pain.
So because my skin is so sensitive, I look for products that are made with less, or no nasties (Sukin is probably my number one go back to brand) but I keep it really simple. Something to wash my face with, something to remove makeup with, and something to get moisture back into the skin.
And then, out of no where, along comes skincare so Honest, it’s even in the name. Honest Skincare! 100% natural and made in New Zealand, Honest Skincare uses a range of oils, butters, sugars, and even coffee to create cruelty free body butter, serums, scrubs, and balms. They’re so natural, you could eat them, and trust me, with the way they smell, and being the foodie I am, I almost did!
Honest Skincare have given me the opportunity to try out an Almond Expresso Sample Pack. I received four different products to try out and below is how my trial with Honest Skincare went. I’ve picked my top two items to talk about – and it’s not because I didn’t love the other two, it’s because I could go on and on about them. Trust me, picking my TWO favorites was SO hard.
Almond Expresso Face and Eye Serum
I am OBSESSED with this!! I used this in the morning – under my eyes. I find this is my huge problem area when it comes to makeup staying put/creasing. So far, i’ve noticed that my makeup stays in place a lot better in the area, and when using it in the morning I was left with quite an awake feeling to my skin. It’s not too heavy under the eyes (I am not a fan of thick eye creams) so if you’re looking for something light weight, but very nourishing – then this is for you. Honest Skincare also tells me it can be used as a water less makeup remover and a daily face moisturiser as well.
Ingredients: Infused Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Certified Organic Shea Butter, Cold Pressed Pacific Islands Coconut Oil, Certified Organic Avocado Oil. Nothing else.
Almond Expresso Lip/Anything Balm
The reason why I picked this as the second thing to tell you about, is if you’re anything like me, you go through lip balms/lip balm brands faster than you can actually use the product. However, this my friends, is an exception. Because I can use this not just on my lips, but on (and these are things I used it for) small cuts, dry patches of skin and over my cuticles, I’ve kept using it. It now lives in my bag and goes everywhere with me. To use on the lips it was super nourishing – I put it on once in the morning before I get up, and once before I go to bed. I haven’t had a cracked lip since mid January.
Ingredients: Infused Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Certified Organic Shea Butter, New Zealand Beeswax. Nothing else.
